Twice this sector was a pivotal point in the war, twice a combined allied army stopped the Germans from breaking through to Paris. In 1914, the Aisne sector saw a dramatic rallying of Franco-British offensive spirit halting the German advance and forcing the Germans to start digging in on the norther plateaus. Throughout 1915 and 1916 this frontline sector remained relatively static until 1917 when the French attempted a disastrous breakthrough on the well defended Chemin des Dames, which ended in mutiny. 1918 saw the return of movement. Aisne is a map based off the areas of France near the Marne which were contested during the periods of movement at the beginning and end of the war.

The large open spaces of this map make it prime land for machine gunners and snipers. The little amount of cover available is in the form of road ditches, craters, and very shallow trenches. Fortunately, the huge size of the map itself helps to lessen the power of artillery, if soldiers are properly spread out.

The area behind the German lines turns into a sparse forest before a short plain and then some trench lines. Behind the Entente lines are little more than sparsely fortified hovels and ditches. For the Entente player, it is certainly vital to contain any German advance.
